How I can Help
Welcome, my name is Sophie. I'm a person-centred therapist who works with a wide variety of topics, and specialising in addiction recovery. I am a member of the British Psychological Society and BACP, and my practice is shaped by the ethical frameworks outlined by these professional bodies. I have first hand experience with addiction and recovery for over fifteen years; walking alongside addicts and alcoholics striving for a fulfilling, abstinent life. I have also helped clients presenting with anxiety, depression, sexual trauma, PTSD, burnout, eating distress, grief and loss and bereavement.
My aim is to arm you with psychological insight and tools to use independently so that you don't need me anymore
I believe everyone has the ability to improve their wellbeing regardless of age or experiences and I firmly believe that the root of this is within connection to others. My approach to therapy is driven by care and passion; by identifying individual needs and motivations, combined with practical action and progressive steps, I hope to guide clients to a content and satisfying life.
It is my strong belief that psychological disturbances can manifest in physical symptoms and my approach incorporates many embodiment practices, learning to engage with the felt sense and engaging the vagus nerve.
I specialise in helping people identify and achieve their personal goals by coping with the issues that are causing them distress, anxiety and stress. I also like to incorporate positive psychology; the absence of a problem does not denote well-being and usually, further action needs to be taken to create a fulfilled life.
I take great pride in the progress and success of my clients and look forward to helping you. Most of my clients choose to engage in therapy online or via telephone call; this enables them to attend sessions wherever is most convenient and comfortable for them.
